ARCHITECTURE
SUSTAINABLE LIVING
Cardiff
A re-think of the ubiquitous terraced house which forms a large proportion of the housing stock of South Wales, in order to design towards a more sustainable way of living.
My design is focussed on the reuse of durable materials, which over time will leave a lasting impression of the inhabitation of the house long into the future. To promote social sustainability, a communal core runs vertically through the entire house, extending into the surrounding rooms to blur the boundaries of public and private space. Environmental sustainability was considered paramount throughout the design process.
