Tonypandy, Wales

A design of an Information Store (library and education centre) for the former mining town of Tonypandy, in the South Wales Valleys. As well as the <<figure>> of the main building, I also developed a <<ground>> strategy to have a wider impact on the town realised through the renewed link from the town centre to the previously ignored River Pandy.

The <<figure>> sits amongst the industrial buildings around, consisting of a series of pods housing the various functions of the Information Store. A public walkway runs through the centre, giving a direct link to the river.
